April is Autism Awareness Month and with spring upon us, our education students decided that the best way to bring awareness to DSC is by walking.

Starting at the James E. Brown Center they walked their way across campus and through every building giving out buttons and information about autism.

Looking out for the future, these education students said the number of individuals living with autism is rising, and special accommodations need to be made to ensure that all students learn to the best of their ability.

Dr. Roben Taylor, assistant professor of education, developed an autism endorsement program for the School of Education. She said that permission was granted to light the front of the Brown Center blue to let help promote autism awareness in the community. 

This is one way that Dalton State education students are making a difference in this world.

I love this! Im a FT student at DSC and im a mom of a 9 year old on the autism spectrum (level 2). Going back to school at 32 and being a mom of a special needs child was the hardest thing ive done. I love being apart of a school that supports autism!
